Lokus is licensed under the Fair Core License, Version 1.0, with MIT Future License (FCL-1.0-MIT).

You can use, copy, modify, create derivative works, publicly perform, publicly display, and redistribute Lokus for any Permitted Purpose.

A Permitted Purpose is any purpose other than a Competing Use. Specifically, you can:

  • Use Lokus for personal, internal, and organizational work.
  • Use Lokus for non-commercial education and research.
  • Provide professional services to other Lokus licensees.

A Competing Use means making Lokus available to others in a commercial product or service that substitutes for Lokus or offers substantially similar functionality.

You must not remove, change, or circumvent any license key functionality in the software.

Two years after each version is released, that version automatically converts to the MIT license. This is an irrevocable grant written into the license text.

Once a version converts, you can use it under standard MIT terms with no Competing Use restriction.
